MY STYLE: BALENCIAGA GIRL

Hola queridos lectores!!

Hello dear readers!!. Nice to "see" you again!!. I´ve taken the advantage of being this weekend in San Sebastian and I´ve gone to one of the trendiest places these days: The great CRISTOBAL BALENCIAGA MUSEUM; which after a long period of time (10 years!!) and a great ammount of money spent (more than 30 million of Euros!!!!!! Yeah, you can hit the ceiling!!), has opened its doors. The inauguration day; where the cream of the crop of the Spanish society, culture and politics attended: the Spanish Queen Sophia, Nati Abascal, Carla Royo-Villanova, Beatrice d´Orleans; fashion designers such as Amaya Arzuaga, Miriam Ocáriz, Ailanto, Joaquín Trías, Alvarno, Fernando Lemoniez or Juan Duyos, among others; as well as French designer Hubert de Givenchy (The Cristobal Balenciaga Foundation´s founder president, besides the basque designer´s disciple and friend) or the great Suzy Menkes (fashion guru and critic for The International Herald Tribune); took place the 7th of June. The scenario: a huge building designed by AV62 Architects annex to the historical Palacio Aldamar from the 19th century. Tradition versus modernity. A constant feature during  the  designer´s career. Balenciaga is considered one of the most prominent and influential couturiers of the 20th century. A genius who revolutionized the dressing conception and the woman´s body. A tireless perfectionist, he had a full command of couture techniques and dedicated his life to refining the construction of his designs, introducing extraordinary innovations that allowed him to evolve towards greater simplicity and purity of form, being able to create clean, polished and elegant designs, which we will manage to see and admire inside the museum, consisting in more than 90 pieces, arranged in 6 thematic exhibition halls: Beginnings, Day, Cocktail, Night, Bride and Essential.

VOGUE UK APRIL 2011: THE RIGHT LINES BY TIM WALKER

TIM WALKER, one of my top photographers, is the creative behind this wonderful fashion editorial with slight touches of surrelism and magic, where colorful dresses from Prada, Jil Sander, Marc by Marc Jacobs or Vivienne Westwood, among others, are the main protagonists; and one of the greatest prints of the summer, STRIPES, their allies. This graphic print, so simple but so complex in reality, involves such a great strength that only a genius as him could pierce.

Fotógrafo/Photographer: Tim Walker
Estilista/Fashion Editor: Kate Phelan
Modelos/Models: Kirsi Pyrhonen & Lindsey Wixson

MY STYLE: FLORAL 50'S

Hi everybody!! I'm really sorry for my absence, but my computer has recently passed away, and it´s been quite difficult for me to post. I hope you can forgive me!. I've rescued for you one of my spring looks which I wore during my cousin´s graduation. It was an important day, so my look had to be harmonious. Symbol of beauty, fragility and delicacy, FLOWERS are a whole ode to nature and ECO conscience. For such an event I chose this plain and colourful cotton dress with the starring print of the season with natural crochet collar, original from the 50´s from one of my favourite vintage shops in Madrid: CORACHAN Y DELGADO. Two trends joined toguether for one same garment. One one hand we´ve got NEON HUES, bold color blocks whose main purpose is exerting as antidote in view of the winter season´s boring whites, blacks and browns, cheering us up the long days, and fullfilling the night with light. Vibrant shades to be dreesed with freshness and intensity. And, on the other hand, we have the FLOWERS, my loving print and the perfect expression to modern romanticism. The best way of going for a walk though the English countryside without clashing with the surroundings. What do you think?.

MONKI + AORTA: FUN FOR LIFE

Today I bring you this photographic production which AORTA´s team has made for MONKI. Let´s begin with the introductions:

In front of the camera we find MONKI, a Swedish brand whose designs are loaded of personality, originality and style. Clean dressmaking, Nordic style, some prints and lots of plain garments. But above all, Monki is both a way of doing life and doing fashion. Monki is a store concept and a fashion brand. The stores are a part of the MONKI world that constantly tells new stories. The clothes have a style that represents personality and independence, an alternative that´s full of dreams. But what stands out more is its´ Corporate Social Responsability. For them, the most important thing, as well as the people, is the environment, and how the clothes are manufactured. Monki believes that bussiness should be approached with humanity, being open and seeing people as of equal value, with respect for human rights, and an appreciation of diversity. Respect for the environment and ecological conscience are his two other premises: its products are free of harmful chemicals, they don´t sell fur or feather downs, and gradually they are introducing materials and processes that are more environmentally friendly.

Behind the camera, we bump into AORTA consisting of two Swedish photographers named Marco Griselj and Kristian Krän, who describe their signature work as "semi-documentary fashion photography", achieving in this production, images full of humour and fantasy. Something that they couldn´t have managed to achieve so easily without the help of the illustrator ELLEN BERGGREN and the stylist ERIKA SVEDJEVIK. I invite you to enter their universe!!!. Enjoy!!!.
Doing it the no-no way
Hunting high and low
Unfallen
Bliss is a room of ones own
Taming the jungle room
Where, oh where?
In this strange land
Dare!
Discovering the invisible
The dance of expectancy
A queen standing tall
Leaving the dream
Moving to the hum of electric fans
When it escapes
In the artificial storm
Zoologically yours
Riding the current of life
Birds of a feather
Resisting gravity
Moonwalking
I like your face
Collision dancing
Earning your stripes
The great escape
