FASHION CLOSETS: ELISA NALIN, AN ITALIAN STYLIST IN PARIS

Si hay una estilista que me encanta y a la que no me importaría parecerme (o saquear su armario) es ELISA NALIN, una italiana afincada en París que comenzó estudiando Arte Clásico y Humanidades en su Verona natal para posteriormente mudarse a Milan a estudiar Diseño de Moda en el Instituto Europeo de Diseño y acabar aterrizando en la ciudad de la luz con el firme propósito de formarse como estilista, su actual profesión; trabajando para revistas como Dazed & Confused, i-D o Vogue Nippon. Hoy os quiero mostrar su casa a grandes rasgos y su vestidor en particular. De su estilo personal, ya nos encargaremos otro día porque bien merece un post entero. Eclecticismo y color son las palabras que mejor la definen y que podréis corroborar a continuación.

If there´s a fashion stylist I love and wouldn´t mind being alike is ELISA NALIN, an Italian woman settled in Paris who began her career studying classic art and humanities in Verone before moving to Milan to study fashion design at the Instituto Europeo del Design. But after spending several years there working for Costume National and Samsonite, she was so bored and sick of the city that she decided to move to Paris and start "fresh new" with a styling career working for magazines such as Dazed & Confused, i-D  or Vogue Nippon, among others. Today I´m just gonna show you her house and closet in detail. But  don´t worry ´cause I haven´t forgotten her quirky and colorful style. It´s just that is so authentic that she deserves a special post for herself that sooner than later you´ll be able to read and admire.

Buenos días, queridos amigos!!. Siento mucho mi ausencia esta última semana. Por motivos de trabajo he estado fuera de Madrid y mi nivel de conexión on line se ha visto considerablemente afectado... Pero ya vuelvo con energías renovadas y muchas ganas de descubriros cositas interesantes!!. Comenzamos la semana con una joven marca italiana creada hace tan solo cuatro años por la diseñadora Vivi Ponti, cuyas creaciones beben de las fuentes del pasado, sin olvidar el presente y con las vistas puestas en un futuro más que prometedor. Diseños atemporales y frescos con pequeños guiños de humor para una mujer dulce e "inocente", que sabe lo que quiere y que no teme a la moda. ¿Quién no quiere convertirse por un día (o más) en una sandía andante, volar por las nubes con los pies en la tierra o accesorizarse con toda clase de cítricos?. ¡¡Bienvenidos a VIVETTA!!.

Good morning, my dear friends!!. I´m very sorry for my absence. I went last week abroad for work and I barely could connect myself to internet. But I´m back with renewed energy and willing to discover you very interesting things!!: Let´s begin with a young fashion brand created four years ago by the Italian designer Vivi Ponti whose creations have a nod to the past but standing firm in the present and looking for a promising future. Timeless and fresh designs with small humor winks to be worn by a sweet and innocent girl, who knows what she wants and has no fear of fashion. Who wouldn´t like to become just for a day (or more...) a walking watermelon, to fly all along the floaty clouds or accessorize oneself with every kind of citrus?. Welcome to VIVETTA!!.

FASHION EDITORIAL: UNDERWATER LOVE

No ha pasado ni una semana y ya he incumplido mi promesa... parecía fácil lo de escribir un post cada dos días, no?. Pues como veréis, para mi no. Así que con publicar dos o tres posts cada semana creo que me doy por feliz. Al fin y al cabo, esto tiene que ser una diversión y no una obligación, no creéis?. En fin, comenzamos la semana con un breve pero precioso editorial firmado por el fotógrafo Filippo del Vita para NYLON MAGAZINE que he descubierto navegando por la red. A principios de mes publiqué dos looks míos de estética marinera (podéis recordarlos haciendo click aquí) y que mejor acompañamiento para ellos que esta pequeña obra de arte bajo el mar. 

Just less than a week ago I made a promise to myself that I would post every two days and I´ve just broken it... I thought it was going to be an easy task and I failed it. I´m sorry!!. But i´ll try posting two or three times per week. That will make me happy!!. After all, this must be for fun, not out of obligation, don´t you think so?. Anyway, let´s begin this week with a short but lovely fashion editorial signed by the Italian photographer Filippo del Vita for NYLON MAGAZINE which I´ve discovered while surfing the net. At the beginning of May I published two navy inspired looks (you can remember them clicking here) and what better partners for them than this small-great under the sea work of art.

FASHION EDITORIAL MARIE CLAIRE ITALY SEPTEMBER 2010

El otoño ya está aquí, y con él las primera hojas que caen, los primeros vientos que soplan, y los últimos rayos que calientan... pero también llega una nueva moda repleta de cálidos tejidos como la lana, el mohair o la alpaca; tonalidades terrosas con suaves pinceladas de color como si en un mercadillo de especias nos perdiésemos: verde, rojo, mostaza, caldera, azafrán... y amplias prendas que te resguardan cuando más lo necesitas. El abanico es mucho más amplio y la posibilidad de jugar a las superposiciones y las mezclas mayor. Es por ello que me gusta tanto esta estación!!

MARNI:SPRING/SUMMER COLLECTION 2010

Una de las diseñadoras que más admiro por su individualidad, su sentido de la estética tan definido y personal, y por no dejarse llevar por la corriente ni por las tendencias imperantes del mercado, siguiendo siempre su camino y su estilo propio; es la artífice de la firma MARNI. Ella es Consuelo Castiglioni. Y desde aquí me declaro su fan número uno!! Adoro sus inteligentes mezclas de tejidos, colores y estampados. Adoro sus formas limpias llenas de sutiles y complejos detalles. Adoro sus superposiciones de prendas en cada look y la fuerza que transmite siempre en cada conjunto.

Os dejo con su última colección para esta primavera/verano 2010 en la que tomando referencias de la época hippie, los años 20 y la sutil y delicada lencería; crea unos maravillosos conjuntos de aires dulces y relajados: Siluetas fluidas; Bloques de color en tonalidades pastel con algunos destellos de rabiosa fuerza; Estampados florales, lineales y circulares; Y finalmente, opulencia en joyas de gran tamaño y colorido, en las que la mezcla es una de sus máximas: Elementos naturales como la madera, el nácar o la concha en contraste con otros más lujosos como el metal, las piedras preciosas y los brillantes.

One of the fashion designers that I admire the most because of her individuality, her personal and clearly-defined aesthetics sense, and for not going across with the crowd and not being influenced by the prevailing market trends, always following her way and own style; is the artisan of the fashion brand named MARNI. She is Consuelo Castiglioni. And from here, I declare myself her fan number one!! I adore her intelligent mixtures of textils, colors and prints. I adore her clean shapes full of fine and complex details. I adore her perfect superpositions of garments in every look and the power that she always achieves in each outfit.

I leave you with her latest collection for this spring/summer 2010, where taking references from the hippie times, the 20´s, and the subtle and delicate lingerie; She creates marvelous outfits with sweet and relaxed airs: Fluid silhouettes; Color blocks in pastel hues with some touches of brightly coloured-strengh, Floral prints, stipes and polka-dolts;And finally, opulence in jewelry of great size and colours, where the mix & match is one of her maxims: Natural elements such as wood, mother-of-pearl, or shell in contrast with others much more luxurious, as for example metal, precious stones, and diamonds.
