STREETSTYLE INSPIRATION: 50´S MIDI SKIRTS

Las faldas con vuelo o silueta de campana siempre han sido claro objeto de mi perdición. Ya sea por su estilo lady, el suave movimiento que crean al "contonearse" o por el rollo sexy o naïf que puedes darles en función de como las combines: Con cazadoras perfecto o sobrias americanas, con sandalias de taconazo o modositas bailarinas, con grandes bolsos o pequeñas carteritas, con bisutería punk o sofisticadas joyas...; y así podría seguir dando ejemplos y más ejemplos. Pero yo no os voy a decir como llevarlas, tan solo que os atreváis a hacerlo.

Full or "A" line skirts (whatsoever you prefer to call them) have always supposed kind of unbridled love to me. It may be because of its lady style, or the soft movement they create when swinging girls´ hips, or just the sexy and naïf touch you can give them depending on how you combine them: You can choose between "Perfecto" jackets or simple blazers, high-heeled sandals or demured flats, big shopping bags or small clutches, punk bijou or sophisticated jewelry... and so on could I keep on. But I´m not gonna tell you how to dress them, but dare you to dress them.

STREET STYLE INSPIRATION SS 2012: PRINT MIXING

¡¡Buenas tardes!!. ¿Cómo va la semana?. Yo muy atareada pero igualmente encantada. Poquito a poco acabaré llegando a todo. Hace tiempo que no os muestro looks de street style con diferentes inspiraciones en mente. Desde conjuntos monocromáticos hasta los de estilo masculino o lady. En esta ocasión apostamos por la mezcla de estampados: rayas, lunares, flores, navajo, animal... (no apto para tímidas). Sólo hay una regla: No tener miedo. ¿Os atrevéis?.

Good evening, darlings!!. How is everything going on?. I´m really busy these days; but happily busy, I must say. It´s been long time since I last wrote any streetstyle post. There are loads of inspirations, from monochromatic looks to masculines ones or lady ones. Today we are going for the mix & match of different prints: stripes, flowers, polka-dots, navajo, animal... Just make sure you aren´t afraid of them!!. Which one is your perfect combo?.

FASHION DESIGNER: ULIANA SERGIENKO (PART II)

¡¡Buenos días y feliz puente a tod@s los que hayáis podido pillarlo!!. El resto... ya es viernes!!!!. Tal y como os prometí en el anterior post, os muestro para gusto y deleite vuestro (y mío), el estilo de esta espectacular mujer. Parece una princesa de cuento de hadas en pleno siglo XXI, pero ~~nada~~ todo más lejos de la realidad es una fotógrafa rusa reconvertida en diseñadora (creo que le damos tod@s un aprobado con creces por su primera colección) y style-icon. Tal y como veréis, tiene todo un arte en mezclar prendas de aspecto vintage con accesorios modernos y viceversa. Faldas y vestidos corola, clutches por doquier, flores y lunares, pumps, corsés, broches antiguos, pañuelos y coronas a la cabeza, terciopelo, tejidos ingleses, mohair y cashmere, encajes y gasas...

Good morning and happy holidays for the lucky ones!! The rest of you... it´s already Friday!!!!. As I told you in my previous post, I wanted to show you the great style of this even greater woman. She seems to be a fairy-tale princess in the middle of the 21st century, but ~~nothing~~ everything further from the truth, she´s a Russian photographer retrained as a fashion designer and style-icon. As you´ll see, she has a flair for mixing vintage-esque garments with modern accessories and vice versa: Corolla skirts and dresses, clutches, flowers and polka-dots, pumps, corsets, antique brooches, headscarfs and crowns, velvet, lace, mohair and cashmere or British fabrics such as tweed, herringbone or hounds-tooth.

ESTILO PERSONAL: LA MODELO IRINA LAZAREANU

La protagonista de la sección street style de hoy es una modelo rumana conocida por ser amiga de la it-girl Kate Moss, ex novia del cantante Pete Doherty, con quien compartió también grupo musical, y musa del gran Karl Lagerfeld. Ella es IRINA LAZAREANU, poseedora de una belleza extraña y única con la que ha conseguido conquistar a todos; y de un estilo ambiguo pero sexy logrado a través de la mezcla de prendas hiper femeninas con otras de toque masculino.

The star of today´s streetstyle section is a Romanian fashion model known for being the it-girl Kate Moss´s friend, the singer Pete Doherty´s ex girl friend, with whom she also shared a music band; and the fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld´s muse. She is IRINA LAZAREANU, owner of a strange and unique beauty with which she has conquered everybody; and of an ambiguous but sexy style achieved through the mix of hiper femenine garments with others with a masculine touch.

Aunque nació en Rumanía, a los 5 años se mudó con sus padres a Canadá donde pasó la mayor parte de su infancia dedicada completamente a su pasión: el ballet. Su trabajo y su constancia le valieron una beca en 1995 para proseguir con sus estudios de danza en la Royal Academy of Art de Londres, pero un accidente le truncó sus ilusiones.

En ese tiempo comenzó a trabajar en una librería por el día, en un bar de copas por la noche, y ocasionalmente como cantante en una orquesta local. Su look ya empezaba a despuntar por andrógino y underground influenciado por el estilo de los años 60 y 70 de Londres tanto en moda, como en música o cine de la época, Warhol y las películas de Stanley Kubrik.

Even though she was born in Rumania, at the age of 5 she moved house with her parents to Canada where she spent most of her childhood completely dedicated to her pasion: the ballet. Her work and constancy earned her a scholarship in 1995 in order to carry on with her dance studies in the Royal Academy of Art in London, but an accident shattered her ilussions.

At that time, she began working at a bookshop during the day, at a pub during the night, and occasionally as a singer in a local orchestra. Her look already began to stand out for being androgynous and underground influenced by the 60´s and 70´s London style (fashion, music, cinema, books...), Warhol and the films of Stanley Kubrik.

Ella no tuvo la suerte, como otras modelos, de ser descubierta por algun gran fotógrafo paseando por las calles londinenses, sino que se apuntó en una agencia canadiense de modelos con el único objetivo de conseguir dinero para poder pagarse su piso de Londres.

Los primeros años apenas tuvo trabajo más que para diseñadores jóvenes y de manera puntual, pero gracias a su temprana y creciente amistad con Kate Moss, las cosas empezaron a cambiar y por fin llegó su momento de despegue en 2005 protagonizando editoriales para Steven Meisel y desfilando para Karl Lagerfeld. Pero claramente su año fue 2006, llegando a participar en más de 150 desfiles y siendo imagen de grandes casas de moda como Balenciaga, Hugo Boss, Pucci y Gap. 2007 no se quedó atrás, y fue imagen de la colección Chanel Paris-Montecarlo, Just Cavalli y Topshop by Kate Moss.

Pero hay veces que lo bueno acaba pronto, y tan sólo un año después su nivel de trabajo sobre las pasarelas empezó a decaer pasando de los más de 150 desfiles en 2006 a los escasos 35 desfiles en 2007 y apenas 10 en 2008.

She wasn´t as lucky as other models who were discovered by some photographers while they were taking a walk through the streets of London, but she enrolled on a canadian model agency with the only aim of obtaining money for being able to pay her flat in London.

The early years she could hardly work but for young fashion designers and occasionally, but thanks to her early and growing friendship with Kate Moss, things began to change and at last the time came to her boom in 2005 staring in fashion editorials for Steven Meisel, and parading up and down the catwalk for Karl Lagerfeld. But her year was clearly 2006, even taking part in more than 150 fashion shows and being the image of big fashion companies as Balenciaga, Hugo Boss, Pucci and Gap. 2007 didn´t get left behind, and she became image of the collections Chanel Paris-Montecarlo, Just Cavally and Topshop by Kate Moss.

But there are times that good things end up early, and only one year later, her standard of work on the catwalks began to decline going from more than 150 fashion shows in 2006 to the limited 35 fashion shows 35 in 2007 and only 10 in 2008.

Tal y como se ha ido viendo en su decreciente trayectoria, se prevé su retirada definitiva de las pasarelas en no mucho tiempo, para dedicarse a su otra gran masión: La música. The way her career has been decreasing, her definitive retirement from the catwalks has been predicted in not so long time, in order to devote herself to her other passion: The music.
